2026-2027 Age Group Transition
What - When - Why
The upcoming 2026/2027 Season, in alignment with leagues and clubs across the country will see the transition back to School year, as directed by the US Soccer federation. Our staff is working to make this transition for players and families as easy as possible.
What is Changing - and Why?
- U.S. Soccer is moving to a school-year age model nationwide
- New cutoff: August 1 – July 31
- Reduces the number of players who feel “caught between” age groups
- Allows more players to train and compete with peers and classmates in the same grade or academic cohort
- Improves long-term developmental continuity
What this Means for Players
- Players born between August and December are the most likely to shift into a new age group
- Teams will align more closely by graduation year
- College recruiting visibility becomes clearer
- Tryouts and team placements for the 2026–27 season will follow the new August 1–July 31 school-year registration model
- Our focus remains long-term growth — not short-term labels
