Beginning in 2026–2027 Season, Westside Metros FC will align with the national return to a school-year age model. 

All major organizations including Girls Academy (GA), MLS NEXT Academy Division, ECNL, US Club Soccer, and USYS (OYSA) will align with this structure nationwide.

What is Changing - and Why?

• Age Groups will change to: August 1 – July 31, rather than birth year
• The move is designed to better match players with classmates, improve roster continuity, and reduce “trapped player” situations
• Our staff is working to make this transition for players and families as easy as possible.

What this Means for Players

• 2026-2027 tryouts and team placements will follow the August 1 – July 31 age groups
• Players born August - December are the most likely to shift
• Teams will align more closely by graduation year
• College recruiting timelines become clearer
• Our focus remains long-term player growth – not short-term labels
